A Different Thing: Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 1650A

Is It Really the “It” Thing in Pet Care?

Albert Einstein once said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I agree. In this case, though, what’s causing my insanity is my dog’s hair all over my house, furniture, and yes, even my body! But what can I do? I cannot just do a “different thing” and get rid of my dogs. I will die. I am absolutely certain there is a less drastic way to solve my problem…

…and I couldn’t be more thankful I was right.

Technical Specifications

It turns out the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 1650A was the alternative.

This heaven-sent tool comes in pleasant green, which I personally think, is the color of cleanliness.

It also has a host of useful tools, the SmartSeal Allergen System, and a height adjusting capability – honestly, I could go on, but I’d rather guide you right into my thoughts.

Suction Function

Let’s talk about the suction and cleaning power. I want to be honest and go right ahead by saying Bissell was never the bellwether. It can be difficult to pick up heavy debris.

Nevertheless, if you are an avid vacuum user, you would know that the suction ability of a vacuum is not the sole basis whether a model is going to serve you well or not.

Bissell Suction Function

With an estimated power between 150-170 AW, Bissell’s suction power does not disappoint as it is spread from edge to edge. The standard package includes the LED Crevice and Per TurboEraser tools and the 2-in-1 Snap On Dusting Brush.

Brush Rush

Working with its suction capability is a brilliantly designed brushroll. Get this: when a large piece of debris is sucked in, the light around the height switch will turn red (which is initially blue). Fret not, though, because all you need to do is turn off the unit and remove the object from the nozzle, which you can do easily.

Bissell Brush

At this point, I also have to mention that the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 1650A is a bagless unit. It employs the Cyclonic Pet Hair Spooling System, which basically separates hair from other kinds of dirt it picks up. Having to remove a dust bin after using a vacuum sounds so difficult (not to mention gross), but I was surprised that I did it in one easy swoop. The bin can be rinsed, but you have to make sure that it dries up properly.

Filtration Ammunition

As I’ve mentioned earlier, suction is not the only thing you look at when choosing a vacuum cleaner. With the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser’s SmartSeal Allergen System, there is guarantee that the device is completely sealed; only exiting the vacuum after passing through the filters.

Bissell Filtration Ammunition

Bissell calls this technology Multi-Level filtration. Basically, the model uses two filters: pre-motor, which has two layers – foam and felt. Felt can be replaced with a Febreze Odor Eliminator Filter. The second filter is post-motor which has to be replaced every six months or so

So, Is It “It” for Me?

Yes, I’m definitely picking this over getting rid of my dogs! But more than that what makes the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 1650A lovable is its simplicity – easy to assemble and you won’t need special tools to do so. It comes with a five year limited warranty, but still better than nothing at all.

With its weight of eighteen pounds, it takes a modest amount of effort to operate. With extended hours of vacuuming, not only do you get to clean, but also squeeze in a decent amount of workout.

One of the things that impressed me is its thoroughness in picking up pet hair and its systematic way of segregating them inside the vacuum making sure that it won’t tangle or clog.

For someone who lives with an asthmatic person, the sophisticated filtration system with the rigid seals assures me that dirt, dust, and other asthma triggers are contained.

My Overall Take

As with everything else, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is not perfect, but it does not mean it is unlovable, just like our pets. What I liked best about this particular model are the tangle-free pet hair system and the SmartSeal Allergen System.

I appreciate the tangle-free pet hair system because for long-time vacuum users, you all know full well that this is a common problem with models with brushrolls. Detangling can be frustrating and time consuming.

I also loved the the SmartSeal Allergen System seeing as how it thoroughly captures the dust and debris picked up by the machine. There is no fear of uncertainty whether things are thoroughly cleaned.

I say, give the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser a chance – it will surprise you in the best way possible as it did me. You won’t have regrets, just a long-time cleaning partner.
